  • Originally flying with the VMF-221 'Fighting Falcons,' Major Marion Carl achieved his first victory on June 4, 1942 during the Battle of Midway. He was then reassigned to the VMF-223 'Bulldogs' and on August 20, 1942 he was deployed to Guadalcanal, where he was shot down and went missing for five days before returning. Carl became the USMC 7th ranking ace and ended the war with 18.5 aerial victories.< /br> < /br> Made by Hobby Master, this 1/48 scale, die cast model replicates the ace's F4F-4 Wildcat 'White 2' as it appeared at Guadalcanal in September of that year. It features an opening canopy, a removable pilot figure, optional-position landing gear, and a display stand. 9.5 in wingspan.
