The Academy Plastic Model Company has been producing kits since 1969. The company is famous for its endless research and development and the excellent model kits that result from the effort. Academy has been awarded 'Model of the Year' at the Nuremberg International Toy Show many times and the quality of their model kits meets or exceeds that of any other current manufacturer. Item is brand new and in its original factory packaging. Listing images are stock pictures provided by the manufacturer or the distributor. When the first XP-38 took flight in 1939, the Army Air Corps instantly recognized that the Lighting had catapulted fighter aircraft design well into the future. At a time when 325 mph was an impressive speed for a fighter, 400+ mph speed of the P-38 was a shock to all those concerned, friend or foe. In the early days of World War II, the Lighting went through its share of teething problems, but in the end it proved to be an awesome fighter. This 1/48 scale kit comes complete with parts and decals to model one of either the P-38J, J Droopsnoot, L Pathfinder, or F-5E Photo Recon. This finely detailed plastic model kit requires assembly and painting.

We accept returns for exchange or refund for 30 calendar days after delivery of the order, and returns for Christmas holiday gift purchases may be made through January 31. Please contact us if you receive a damaged item, or if an item is missing from your order. Damaged items or items missing from an order may be replaced or refunded at our discretion. Undamaged items that are returned must be in new, unaltered and unused condition showing no signs of wear or damage. Refunds are contingent upon inspection of item(s), and the customer is responsible for all shipping costs if seller is not at fault for the return. Refunds will be given in the form of the payment method used for the original purchase transaction.
