Historical Context
The Bell UH-1 Iroquois, widely known by its nickname “Huey,” is one of the most iconic military helicopters in history. Developed in the mid-1950s, the Huey originated from the 1955 United States Army trials of the Bell Model 204. The initial designation “HU-1”—standing for “Helicopter Utility” —earned the helicopter its enduring nickname, “Huey.”
First deployed in 1959, the Huey entered tri-service production in 1962 under the designation UH-1. Production continued until 1976, yielding over 16,000 units, of which approximately 7,000 served during the Vietnam War. The Huey became synonymous with that conflict, performing roles ranging from troop transport and medevac to close air support and command and control.
This HobbyBoss model kit faithfully recreates that legacy with more than 160 finely detailed parts. It offers modelers the opportunity to assemble and paint a richly accurate representation of this historic aircraft.
