Italeri's 1/72 F-15E Strike Eagle captures the tandem-cockpit strike variant that replaced the F-111 in USAF service.

About the Kit

Italeri was founded in the early 1960s by enthusiasts who wanted better aircraft and military vehicle models than were available at the time. That passion drove them to research and produce the kits modelers wanted, and Italeri grew into a leading name in the hobby. This F-15E kit is brand new in its original factory packaging. Assembly and painting are required. Listing images are stock pictures from the manufacturer or distributor.

Historical Context: The F-15E Strike Eagle

The F-15 Eagle design began in the 1970s to give U.S. Air Force fighter squadrons a high-performance air-superiority jet. Its robust aerodynamic layout---twin tails, broad mid-mounted wing, and tandem cockpit in the two-seat variant---proved adaptable enough to support a dedicated strike role.

The F-15E Strike Eagle entered USAF service in the late 1980s, replacing the aging F-111 in ground-attack, bombing, and interdiction missions while retaining much of the Eagle's flight characteristics. The rear crew position is occupied by the Weapon Systems Officer (WSO), who manages route planning, target tracking, and electronic countermeasures while the pilot flies the aircraft.

The type saw extensive operational use from the Desert Shield and Desert Storm campaigns of the early 1990s onward, and has remained a backbone of U.S. tactical air power in subsequent conflicts. For modelers who enjoy modern U.S. jets, the Strike Eagle bridges Cold War-era Eagle lineage and post-1990 expeditionary operations.

Marking Options

The kit includes a super decal sheet for four versions (per Italeri's contents listing), supported by a color instruction sheet. Figures are not included, leaving room for aftermarket crew or a flight-line diorama base.
