Historical Context: HMS Enterprise
HMS Enterprise (D52) was an Emerald-class light cruiser completed in 1931, but she is remembered above all for her unique machinery arrangement. After trials with a reduced power plant, she operated with only half of her designed boiler capacity on one side---giving the ship a conspicuously asymmetric profile that sets her apart from every other cruiser in a 1/1250 display case.
At the outbreak of war in 1939, Enterprise was a modern enough cruiser for escort, patrol, and fleet-support work. Through the Second World War she served in the Atlantic and Mediterranean, and in 1944 took part in bombardment duties in support of the Normandy landings. She survived the conflict and was broken up in the late 1940s---a long-lived, hard-used warship whose odd silhouette makes her a favorite among Royal Navy specialists.
Why Collect the 1147AS Release
Navis-Neptun "AS" special-painting variants offer enhanced factory finish compared with standard catalog ships---useful on a subject where deck detail, funnel arrangement, and hull lines reward careful paint work. A 1939-dated Enterprise fits early-war Home Fleet or Mediterranean groupings alongside other Neptun Royal Navy cruisers and destroyers, and provides a striking contrast to symmetric Town- or County-class subjects in the same scale.
Collector Notes
This item is a finished display model (not a plastic assembly kit). The model will be packed carefully for shipment; minor adjustment may be needed after transit. Masts and gun barrels on metal ship models are fragile and may require careful straightening before display. Light cruisers in 1/1250 scale are smaller than battleship or carrier subjects but still carry enough detail to read well on a shelf or in a convoy diorama.
