The Bell UH-1Y Venom, known as the 'Super Huey,' is a modern twin-engine utility helicopter and a member of the legendary Huey family. Developed under the U.S. Marine Corps’ H-1 upgrade program to replace the UH-1N Twin Huey, the UH-1Y features a new four-bladed, all-composite rotor system and powerful General Electric T700 engines, greatly improving performance and survivability. It includes a modern digital “glass” cockpit and an advanced sensor suite, enabling it to perform diverse missions such as troop transport, medical evacuation, and close air support. Sharing 85% parts commonality with the AH-1Z Viper attack helicopter, it simplifies maintenance and logistics, with its first Marine Corps deployment in 2009. The 1/35 scale Academy 12138 UH-1Y Venom model kit, released in 2025, measures approximately 50.8 cm in length and 12.8 cm in height, representing a highly modernized version of the iconic Huey. It features a four-bladed composite rotor system for enhanced durability, a glass cockpit with advanced avionics, and high mission versatility. The kit includes plastic parts for assembling the USMC UH-1Y Venom, an instruction sheet, a paint layout guide, and five distinct decal schemes.
