The Academy Plastic Model Company has been producing kits since 1969. The company is famous for its endless research and development and the excellent model kits that result from the effort. Academy has been awarded Model of the Year at the Nuremberg International Toy Show nine times and the quality of their model kits meets or exceeds that of any other current manufacturer. This model kit of a New Bedford Whaler represents a typical whaling vessel used to sail the world while hunting for Sperm Whales in the Western Pacific Ocean around 1835. The original vessel measured about 120 feet in length, had a 28 foot beam, and a draft of 14 feet. At its peak, New Bedford, Massachusetts had 429 Whaling Vessels registered there. This model kit includes a fully engraved hull with copper plate sheathing detail, three tone plastic molded parts, highly detailed lifeboats, intricate masts, rigging thread, and a full complement of billowing sails and ratlines. A display stand is included to help make this easy-to-assemble Bedford Whaler a magnificent addition to any display. This finely detailed plastic model kit requires assembly and painting.

Undamaged items that are returned must be in new, unaltered and unused condition showing no signs of wear or damage. Refunds are contingent upon inspection of item(s), and the customer is responsible for all shipping costs if seller is not at fault for the return.
