Trumpeter USS Indianapolis Scale Plastic Model Kit

Now Available: Trumpeter 1/350 Scale USS Indianapolis (1944) Model Kit

We’re excited to announce the arrival of a historically significant model kit at Historia Emporium – The History Store: the Trumpeter 1/350 Scale USS Indianapolis (1944). This highly detailed plastic model kit faithfully recreates one of the most famous U.S. Navy cruisers of World War II.

Commissioned in 1932, the USS Indianapolis (CA-35) was a Portland-class heavy cruiser that played a pivotal role during the war, serving in major Pacific Theater operations including the invasions of Iwo Jima and Okinawa. In July 1945, the Indianapolis completed a top-secret mission to deliver components of the atomic bomb to Tinian Island—an operation critical to the end of the war. Tragically, just days later, the ship was torpedoed and sunk by a Japanese submarine. Of the 1,195 crewmen on board, only 316 survived, making it one of the worst naval disasters in U.S. history.

This 1/350 scale model kit by Trumpeter captures the 1944 configuration of the Indianapolis with precise detailing, including deck structures, armament, and radar systems. It’s a compelling project for history enthusiasts and modelers alike, offering a chance to honor and explore a vessel with a story of valor and sacrifice.
