Includes one Command Rifle team, one Observer Rifle team, four M1 81mm mortar teams with crew, one Small three-hole base, one Small two-hole base, four Medium four-hole bases, & two Base plug sprues. While the mechanised infantry had a platoon of half-track mounted M3D 120mm mortars at battalion level, the light infantry had lighter, man-portable 81mm mortars for their fire support. When attacking, they deal with surprises, suppressing nests of resistance and shutting down counterattacks. When defending, the mortars drive attacking infantry to ground, or blind their support with smoke as their own infantry manoeuvre to counterattack.
