The HMHS Britannic was the third and final vessel of the White Star Line's Olympic class of steamships and the second White Star ship to bear the name Britannic, alongside sister ships RMS Olympic and RMS Titanic. Built as a transatlantic passenger liner, she served as a hospital ship from 1915 until her sinking in November 1916 and was then the largest hospital ship in the world. Launched just before the First World War, she was designed to be the safest of the three ships, incorporating lessons from the sinking of the Titanic. On 21 November 1916 she struck a German Navy mine near the Greek island of Kea and sank 55 minutes later, with 30 of 1,066 people on board lost and 1,036 survivors rescued from the water and lifeboats. The wreck was explored by Jacques Cousteau in 1975 and remains the largest intact passenger ship on the seabed. This plastic model warship kit includes 13 sprues plus hull and decks, two photo-etched sheets, and measures 387.5 mm in length and 41.2 mm in beam (15.256 in by 1.62 in). The hull is a single piece, with detailed decks, a display stand and name plate, photo-etched funnels, separately molded lifeboats and whaleboats, capstans, and details such as anchors, benches, and cranes.
