Tamiya ventured into the modeling business in 1948, with a scale wooden ship model kit. The standard of excellence achieved by Tamiya is regarded as among the very finest in the world of model hobbies. This finely detailed plastic model kit requires assembly and painting. Item is brand new and in its original factory packaging. Listing images are stock pictures provided by the manufacturer or the distributor. The legendary Skyline GT-R was first recreated in 1969. It took countless touring car race victories for many years, but after 1973, the name was sorely missed as it disappeared from production, returning to great acclaim some 16 years later in Spring 1989. Also known as the R32, this iteration of the Skyline GT-R had a 280hp inline-six DOHC twin turbo engine combined with a torque-split four-wheel drive system, the Super HICAS four-wheel steering setup, and multilink suspension: top end technology for its day. Retaining the two-door coupe form, it sported blister fenders and a front bumper with yawning air intakes, as well as a rear wing. It went on to dominate Group A races, recording an astonishing 29 consecutive wins in Japanese Touring Car Championship races between 1990 and 1993. This is a 1/24 scale plastic model assembly kit recreating the 8th generation Skyline. From the wide fenders to the rear wing, and up to the front spoiler, the model shows off great detail across the board. The racy inline-6 twin turbo engine is also recreated in detail, and can be shown off under the transparent engine hood component. The model also offers an insight into the 4WD mechanism and multi-link suspension employed on the actual car.
