This 1/24 scale plastic model assembly kit recreates the Mazda MX-5 RF, also known as the Miata MX-5 in the United States and the Roadster in Japan, specifically depicting the Retractable Fastback version announced by Mazda in 2016 and released as the 2017 model. The MX-5 RF features a sleek fastback hard top design with an innovative three piece retractable roof that opens or closes in just thirteen seconds at the push of a button, and the full scale car incorporates chassis and suspension revisions to accommodate the additional weight while preserving Mazda’s renowned balance and safety. Measuring approximately 164 mm in length and 80 mm in width when completed, the model captures these characteristics in detail and includes options found on top grade Japanese market cars such as Recaro seats and BBS wheels. The kit provides parts to build Japanese, US, UK, or European market specifications, features newly tooled side window parts that allow the hard top to be shown in either the raised or lowered position, and offers finely detailed suspension and interior components. Additional realism is provided by metal plated parts for light reflectors and other details, along with decals for instrumentation and markings and metal transfer parts for emblems and side mirror surfaces.
