Following the release of the Kubelwagen as the first model in the 1/48 scale Military Miniature series, Tamiya’s second release, the Kettenkraftrad, joins the expanding lineup as a complete display kit that includes the Kettenkraftrad with an infantry cart, a Goliath demolition vehicle, and numerous accessories in 1/48 scale, suitable for standalone display or for use in a diorama alongside 1/48 scale aircraft. The Kettenkraftrad featured three forward gears and one reverse and was used during WWII as a transportation vehicle, power generator, communications vehicle, and towing vehicle, capable of towing loads up to four tons including artillery, equipment, and aircraft when operated by the Luftwaffe. The infantry cart was a lightweight, highly versatile trailer that could be towed by two men, a horse, a motorcycle, or a Kettenkraftrad and was widely used throughout WWII. The Goliath was a remote-controlled self-detonating vehicle operated via an 800 meter cable and carried a 60 kilogram explosive charge. The 1/48 scale plastic model accurately represents the WWII Kettenkraftrad with an overall length of 64 mm and includes the detailed Goliath and infantry cart, a wide selection of accessories such as two types of grenade launchers, a fuel drum, jerrycans, ammunition boxes, rifles, and one uniformed driver figure, along with five marking options to depict either German Army or Luftwaffe vehicles.
