Item is brand new and in its original factory packaging. Listing images are stock pictures provided by the manufacturer or the distributor. During the early stages of Operation Barbarossa the Russian Army suffered heavy losses but was able to halt the German advance just short of Moscow largely due to the strength of its tank forces. After concentrated artillery fire tanks advanced in three waves with infantry riding on the tanks of the second and third waves. Because Russian ground forces lacked armored troop carriers such as half tracks or universal carriers so called Motor Rifle Units were attached to each tank brigade to provide infantry support. When enemy defensive positions were encountered the tank riders dismounted to attack then remounted to continue the advance and although these infantrymen spearheaded many assaults they suffered heavy casualties from defensive fire. This high quality 1/48 scale figure set features dynamically posed and realistically detailed Russian infantry including figures jumping from tanks charging forward and towing a Maxim machine gun and includes 13 infantry figures in a variety of uniforms along with two tank crewmen. The uniforms and equipment accurately represent late WWII era Russian soldiers with extremely precise molding capturing fine details such as the Maxim M1910 machine gun and separate plastic weapons and equipment included for added realism.
