This model assembly kit recreates the wide wheel version of the German Schwimmwagen in 1/35 scale, complementing Tamiya's popular German Schwimmwagen (item 35224) kit as it adds a variant version featuring wide tires and added equipment such as an MG35 machine gun and two new figures. Criss-crossed by rivers and dotted with wetlands, European geography posed significant military challenges and led the German Wehrmacht to develop the Schwimmwagen, an amphibious vehicle based upon the Ferdinand Porsche-designed Kübelwagen equipped with a 4-cylinder gasoline engine capable of 25hp and featuring an 80km/h top speed on ground, with a rear three-bladed screw propeller that provided water speed up to 10km/h. While paucity of materials meant many Schwimmwagen used 133mm tires, those with wider 200mm tires enjoyed superior off-road performance. This 1/35 scale plastic model assembly kit measures 113mm in length and 42mm in width, featuring realistic depictions of suspension and a 4-cylinder gasoline engine, newly molded C parts that realistically recreate 200mm wide tires (split into pieces to recreate tire patterns), wheels, MG34 machine gun, Panzerfaust 30 anti-tank weapon, Kar.98k rifle fixed to crossbar, windshield with or without cover, positionable canteens and helmet, two new figures (one driver and one officer), and decals depicting four German Army and two German Air Force number plates and badges of cap, sleeve, and collar.
